A ripe blackberry is deep black with a plump, full, and slightly tender feel. If the berry is red or purple, it’s not ripe yet. But, over a period, it would eventually take on a bright-red hue. The skin of a fully ripe berry is dull black, not shiny. Generally, try to use them within 3 to 5 days for the best quality. For a longer use, keep them in their original containers. Do not wash blackberries until you’re ready to use them.
